Cannon McWilliams named Athletic Director for BSISD

Last week, Big Spring High School’s Head Football Coach Cannon McWilliams was named as the new Athletic Director for Big Spring ISD.

“Mr. [Mike] Ritchey came to me a few weeks ago with this idea. He said that he’s done a fantastic job with being both the Athletic Director and Principal job but he wanted me to continue as the Athletic Director and I’m excited. I’m excited that he has the faith in me to do that and I’m excited to keep rolling and to keep things going in Big Spring,” said the new Athletic Director.

New AD Cannon McWilliams has coached in Big Spring since 2019 and immediately began building a culture that revolved around character development and accountability. According to Superintendent Jay McWilliams, Big Spring High School Principal and previous Athletic Director Mike Ritchey had already laid a strong foundation for success on and off the field. This now paves the way for new Athletic Director Cannon McWilliams.

“Because we have someone in place in Cannon McWilliams, that is a great leader, a great advocate for all sports, all programs, great supporter of head coaches, that will even take [the athletic program] up to the next level,” said Ritchey of Cannon McWilliams' promotion to Athletic Director for the district.
