Comanche Warrior Triathlon Registration Prices Increase in August.

The last Scenic Mountain Moonlight Rave Run of the summer may have been held on Friday night, but there’s still another race for which to continue training. The Comanche Warrior Triathlon will be held on Saturday, August 25th, at the Comanche Trail Park. The triathlon begins with a 500 meter open water swim in Comanche Trail Lake, followed up by a 30k bike ride out and back on city and county roads and is concluded with a 5k run on closed trails and roads in the Comanche Trail Park.

Triathlon participants have the option to complete the triathlon alone, or with a team. Cost is currently $55 for individuals and $90 for teams, but only through the end of July. Beginning August 1st, the cost will increase to $60 for individuals and $100 for teams. Be sure to register early in order to get the best price. 2018 Big Spring Steer Football season tickets are now on sale!

Be advised that if you had season tickets last year for Varsity Football, you can come pick up your reserved seat tickets at the ATC for this year, beginning today through August 26th, Monday - Thursday from 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM and 1 PM to 3:30 PM. Booklet cost this year is $20 for all 5 home games.
Be advised that if you do not pick up your tickets this year, you will lose your seats and they will be up for grabs for the public.


Big Spring Predators Football Sign-Ups this weekend and next.

The Big Spring Predators Football Sign-Ups will have an on-site registration for ages 4 through 11 this weekend, July 13th from noon to 7 PM and July 14th from noon to 5 PM at the Howard County Library, located at 500 S. Main St. in Big Spring. They'll also have another round of sign ups next weekend during the same hours and at the same location.


Participants will be divided into different age divisions and cost varies depending on whether the child will be participating in fundraisers. Flag football is $60 with fundraisers or $160 without fundraiser and includes sublimated reversible jersey, shorts, and socks. Tackle football is $160 with fundraiser participation, or $235 without fundraising. Registration for tackle includes sublimated reversible jersey, integrated pants, and socks.


Cheerleading sign-ups are also available for ages 4 to 15. Cost is $160 with fundraising, or $235 without. Registration includes skirts, shell, pom poms, duffle bag, and cheer camp.

United Way 5K / 1K Family Fun Day - Saturday, July 14th, 2018

There’s still time to register online for the United Way 5K/1K Family Fun Day races that are scheduled to begin at 8 AM Saturday morning. Packet pick up and on-site registration will begin at 7:30 AM at Belanski Pavillion in Comanche Trail City Park. The 1K race is for children 12 and under, and cost is $10 per participant. The 5K race is for ages 13 and up and is $25 per participant. Those who register for the race will receive a t-shirt and passes to the Russ McEwen Aquatic Center while supplies last. Families are also encouraged to take advantage of the fun activities. Funds raised will go benefit the United Way of Big Spring and Howard County and their partnering agencies.


Forsan graduate Kolby Watson continues baseball career at collegiate level!

Congratulations to Forsan High School graduate Kolby Watson who signed his letter of intent to continue his baseball career at Randall University, located in Moore, Oklahoma! Kolby says that he plans to major in Exercise Science and later move back to Texas to pursue a degree in Athletic Training.

6th Annual Big Spring Super Sprint and Kid's Triathlon

The 6th Annual Big Spring Super Sprint and Kid’s Triathlon will take place this Saturday, July 7th beginning at 7 AM at the Russ McEwen Aquatic Center. All competitors will swim in the “Lazy River” loop at the McEwen Aquatic Center, then bike and run inside the Comanche Trail Park.


The Big Spring Kid’s Triathlon is open to youth ages 5 to 15, is a very fun, spectator-friendly event. Ages 5 through 10 will compete in 3 age categories by swimming 100 meters, bike a 4k, then run 1k. Ages 11 though 15 will swim 200 meters, bike an 8 k, and then run 2k.

The Big Spring Super Sprint is open to ages 16 to 99. This event is great for first time triathletes and is also great fun for the seasoned veteran.


Cost for the Kid’s Triathlon is $30 per child, and cost for Super Sprint is $45 per person. It should be noted that both races are a USA Triathlon Sanctioned Event. Registration is still available online at
