CRANE — The Coahoma High School track team scooped up nine gold, five silver, and four bronze medals in individual events and five relay teams medaled at the District 5-3A meet on Friday.

MaKynlee Overton turned more than a few heads when she threw her shot put for a gold medal winning distance of 37-00.50, and she set a personal best and new school record for the fourth time in two years. In fact, it was her second record breaking throw of the day in the shot put event and the third this year.

Overton had plenty of company from the CHS team in the winner circle. Sean Strieigler ran a time of 23:10 to win the 200 meter dash. Christian Everett sprinted to gold in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12:31.

Tristian Guerrero clocked 53.95 at the finish line to win the 400 meter dash. Madison Rodgers’ swift feet earned gold in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.20, and Austin Perkins picked up gold in the 300 meter dash. He finished the race in 43.18.

Vance Ott brought home three golds in the wheelchair division. He threw a 19-11 in shot put, and clocked 16.70 and 58.45 in the 100 meter and 400 meter dash respectively.

The varsity 4x200 relay team of JR Emerson, Tristan Guerrero, Billy Bailey, and Sean Striegler also won gold with a time of 1:34.59.

The Bulldog team finished second in district and the Bulldogette team was third.

Next: Coahoma will compete in 20 individual events and six relay races at the Area 5&6 UIL meet, which is set for this Thursday in Wall.
