COAHOMA — Six Coahoma Bulldogs have proven they excel not only on the gridiron but also in the classroom after they landed on the THSCA All-State Academic Football list.

Seniors Keegan Dobbs, Cutter Atkins, Brant Gartman, Gaige Hill, Garrett Anderson, and Jonathon Schneider made the list by the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) to honor high school athletes who shine both academically and athletically.

“I am very proud of these young men for taking care of business in the classroom and on the field,” said Bulldogs head football coach Chris Joslin.

Gartman, Atkins, and Hill were named to the second team and Anderson, Schneider, and Dobbs made honorable mention. The award is based on grade point average, class ranking, and SAT or ACT scores and is made up of athletes from 1A to 6A schools.

The Coahoma Bulldogs ended the 2019 football season 9-3 which included the team’s first Bi-District win since 2003.

The following student athletes from Forsan and Stanton High Schools were also named to the list:

Forsan HS
1st Team - Jonathon Gabehart - 1st team
2nd Team - Nathaniel Whitmore and Ryan Buske

Stanton HS
1st Team - Ethan Quaid
2nd Team - Braden Waggoner and Chandler Denson
Honorable Mention - Cody Beasley, Dylan Johnson, and Peyton Barnhill
