Howard College Hawks had successful seasons on their respective court and field but they also had successful seasons in the classroom based upon the recent list of NJCAA 2017-2018 Academic All-American Award Winners. Hawks placed 28 students on the list with 10 on 1st Team; 7 on 2nd team and 11 on 3rd team.

Criteria used for selections to the academic teams is as follows:
First Team Academic All-Americans 4.00 GPA
Second Team Academic All-American 3.80-3.99 GPA
Third Team Academic All-American 3.60-3.79 GPA
Hawk baseball led the pack with 11 athletes, softball had 8, women’s basketball had 6 and men’s basketball had 3.
The final team GPAs for Hawk Athletics were also impressive. The GPAs were calculated using the NJCAA Team Academic award criteria and all 2017-2018 classes and grades were utilized except developmental courses and grades.
