Logan Franklin’s performance on the mound this year as a starting pitcher for the Coahoma Bulldogs certainly made an impression with area coaches. The Coahoma standout was named the District 5-3A co-Pitcher of the Year along with Jim Ned’s Cagan Evans.
Overall Franklin was among five Bulldog players to make the all-district team.
On the mound, Franklin led Coahoma with an earned run average of 2.22 and helped propel the Bulldogs to an 8-3 district record and an appearance at bi-district playoffs. The senior was also deadly on offense, batting .485 for the year with a whopping 29 runs batted in. During the season, he hammered out eight doubles.
Seniors Zach Holmes, Braden Pearson and sophomore Gaige Hill were also named to the first-team all-district roster for their standout performances on the diamond in 2018.
Holmes was selected as a first-team Infielder and played a key role for the Bulldogs at the plate. He batted a .437 average and had scored 32 runs for the season. Hill, who was named the first-team catcher, capped his season with a .324 batting average. Pearson was selected as first-team utility player. He batted .361 this season knocked in 25 runs and hit six doubles and a home run.
Rounding out the accolades for the Bulldogs was sophomore Zack Schneider who was selected to the second-team outfield. Schneider posted a .357 batting average, 25 runs, five doubles and a home run.
