Big innings in the third and fifth and another solid outing on the mound by Coahoma pitcher MaKynlee Overton contributed to the 11-0 victory against the Lady Buffs on their own turf.
MaKayla Overton had an outstanding day at bat going 3 for 3 at the plate with a double, a triple, 2 runs, and an RBI to help lead the Bullodgettes to their fourth straight district win Tuesday night.
The Bulldogettes pounded out 10 hits for 11 runs with 5 in the third and 6 in the fifth. Kamri Kemper, MaKynlee Overton and Cassie Grant all brought in 2 RBIs a piece. Kemper went 2 for 3 at bat and had 1 run.
Caitlyn Corley got an RBI from a sacrifice groundout that allowed Illiana Sandoval time to score. Jaydan Mann, who went 2 for 4 at bat and had 2 runs, tripled in the fifth inning.
Throwing her fourth shutout of the season, MaKynlee Overton earned the win for the Bulldogettes on the mound. She allowed zero runs over 1 hit, walked 1 and had 9 strikeouts. She got 41 strikes from 58 pitches thrown over five innings. Coahoma’s season record is now at 12-1.
Next, the No. 7th ranked Coahoma Bulldogettes will face off against the No. 6 ranked team in the state for Class 3A, the Clyde Lady Bulldogs, Thursday at Coahoama. The varsity game begins at 5 p.m. with the JV match to follow at 6:30 p.m.
