The Odessa Jackalopes will be honoring SWCID Athletics and their athletes on Saturday, April 7th. SWCID, which stands for Southwest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf, is a part of the Howard College system and it’s campus is located in Big Spring.
Coach Roderica Johnson, SWCID Athletic Director, stated that a couple of the students will drop the puck at the beginning of the game, and they'll be introduced during half-time. The students will also get to sign cheers and it will be displayed on the big screen for the crowd.
When asked what her favorite part of being a part of the SWCID Athletics program, Coach Johnson stated, "Just being involved and trying to get our name out there, and seeing the best out of all of the student athletes."
She went on to say "Typically a lot of student athletes feel that maybe they're not worth being on a team or anything like that, and I'm the person who wants to bring that uniqueness out of them as a player."
The game will be played at the Ector County Coliseum, also known as "The Jack Shack" and the game begins at 7:11 PM.
Tickets will be sold for $4 each, and attendees can take advantage of a special meal deal – hot dog, bag of popcorn, and 20 oz. drink all for only $8, which is a discounted from the normal price of $10.50; but it should be noted that you will only be able to take advantage of these prices by contacting Coach Johnson at 432-264-3734 or email her at email@example.com.
