The Big Spring Jr. High Swim team competed in Pecos this past Saturday morning on March 4, 2018, and according to Head Swim / Dive Coach Randall Shaw, it was an "amazing meet."
With four guys, the Steers captured a 6th place finish in the team standings. The Lady Steers finished 3rd overall. Altogether the girls team set 4 new Big Spring Jr. High school records. The relay of Camilia Rodriguez, Averielle Nuno, Naomi Reyes, and Chloe Ashcraft broke the Girls 200 Medly Relay record with a new time of 2:52.88. Averielle Nuno broke her own school record in the 50 free, setting a new record of 34.16. Naomi Reyes broke the school record for the girls 50 butterfly with a time of 35.14. Reyes also broke the school record in the Girls 500 free with a time of 8:23.32.
"This was a great start to what looks like will be an amazing season," said Coach Shaw.
The steer and lady steer swim teams will compete in Odessa on March 24th.
