The Big Spring Steers competed in the Crane Invitational Powerlifting Meet this past weekend. Here are the results, as reported by BSHS Powerlifting Coaches Chris McWilliams and Jeff Pannell:

Jared Paredez was 2nd in the 114 lb class
Mattox Evans was 5th in the 114 lb class
Cruz Martinez was 2nd in the 123 lb class
Bryson Ovalle was 1st in the 132 lb class
Joshua Lopez was 2nd in the 132 lb class
Caleb Caldwell was 3rd in the 165 lb class
Ivan Delgado was 1st in the 242 lb class
Isaiah Rodriguez was 3rd in the 275 lb class
Daniel Roberts was 5th in the 275 lb class
Michael Doporto was 5th in the Super Heavyweight class

Overall, the boys finished 2nd as a team. The coaches noted that they felt confident that if Jordan Dunn and Justin Ormsby (both gold medal winners at the Fort Stockton meet) had been with them at the meet, the Steers would have won the team championship.

Janeigh Vanderbilt was 1st in the 165 lb class
Gabby Lopez was 4th in the 165 lb class
Carlie Roberts was 1st in the 181 lb class
Hallie Hyatt was 2nd in the 181 lb class

Overall, the girls did great. The team will compete in the Greenwood Meet tomorrow, which is the last qualifying meet for Regionals. Carlie Roberts once again won the Best Lifter Award for the heavier weight classes.

The coaches stated that they are very proud of how their Steer and Lady Steer athletes competed and pulled together as a team. It was noted that had been a ton of personal bests at this meet, and they look to continue doing that in the meets ahead.
