Amy Baeza, newly appointed board member for Big Spring ISD, was sworn in at last night’s special meeting of the BSISD Board of Trustees. Baeza was selected to fill the unexpired term of District 6 representative after Manny Chavira, former District 6 board member, stepped down to move to El Paso.
Baeza told KBest News that she was honored to join the board.
"I'm very honored to be a part of something that the board members are definitely making progress in our community, for our facilities, and especially for our students. I'm really excited to see what's going to happen in the future," said Baeza.
Also during last night’s meeting, Board members approved the final amended budget for the 2021-2021 fiscal year and the proposed budget for 2021-2022. The tax rate of $1.016/$100 valuation was approved by the board. This includes a rate of $0.8923/$100 valuation for maintenance and operations, and $.1237/$100 valuation for debt service.
