Complex Community Federal Credit Union will host a Community Shred Day in Big Spring today, April 26th, at their Big Spring branch located at 503 E. FM 700 from 4-7 PM.
Complex Community FCU hosts this free event twice per year, once in the spring and once in the fall. They invite members and non-members to participate by taking their confidential documents to the event to shred so that their information can be secured. They can even bring junk mail that may have been cluttering the home.
When you just rip something up and throw it away, anyone can steal your information by raiding your trash. By shredding the documents, you’re able to keep your personal information secure and prevent identity theft.
Cindy Carlisle with Complex Community FCU, told KBest News that there is no limit to how many documents can be brought to shred. It can be brought in boxes or bags. The items will be unloaded from your vehicle and placed into a large bin to be shredded. She noted that the items will be shred in front of you.
Carlisle went on to say that they only ask that the documents do not come in binders, have paperclips, or any other metal items with them.
