The Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce had a ribbon cutting ceremony at Howard College to celebrate the recently completed renovations of their Cactus Room.
According to Dr. Cheryl Sparks, President of Howard College, as a part of their 75th anniversary, they are doing everything they can to spotlight things that are happening at Howard College, and one of those is the opening of the Cactus Room.
"The Cactus Room has been around since the [1970s] and have not been updated since about the early [1980s] and so it was time to do that again," said Dr. Sparks.
She advised that the bathrooms in the Student Union Building had been renovated for the first time since the building was completed in 1960s. They also did some work in the cafeterias with the vent hoods for both the cafeteria and the Hawk's Nest.
Dr. Sparks advised that the Cactus Room was the last part of the project. The looks was updated to include Howard College's timeline of 75 years.
"It’s pretty impressive what the vision of the people in 1945 has created for the citizens of Howard County," said Dr. Sparks.
The Cactus Room also received technological upgrades so that the room could be used for special meetings, special lectures. It features state of the art technology and will be very effective for all types of speakers.
