Big Spring and Howard County Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in locating and identifying a suspect involved with tampering with barricades. 

On December 30, 2020 the city of Big Spring reinstalled barricades around a large hole in the roadway located in the 200 block of Benton.  On December 31, 2020 at approximately 9:00 AM, Officers with the Big Spring Police Department were dispatched to the 200 block of Benton in reference to someone tampering with said barricade. Upon arrival, officers learned that an unknown individual tampered with the barricade by pushing, throwing, and kicking the barricade into the hole on the roadway. Officers obtained video evidence of the incident and of the surrounding area. (Watch the video at: https://fb.watch/2YfsaZ91SS/ )

If found guilty, the suspect can face up to two years in county jail and a fine up to $1000.00 just for moving the barricade.  Intentionally and knowing tampering with a barricade, could result in serious bodily injury or even death.  Texas Penal Code 19.01 states: a person commits CRIMINAL HOMICIDE if he intentionally, knowingly, RECKLESSLY or with CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE causes the death of an individual. 

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000.00 for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) involved in this case. Remember no caller ID is ever used and all tips are anonymous.
