Last Thursday, St. Vincent de Paul, part of Trinity Catholic Parish in Big Spring, distributed groceries to people in need through a drive-thru set up process. Although several organizations have been conducting grocery distributions to assist families during the COVID-19 pandemic, St. Vincent de Paul distributes boxes of groceries regularly for many years, that’s according to Rosario Medrano, President of St. Vincent de Paul. Food box distribution for the organization takes place every 2nd Thursday of the month from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
In addition to that, every 3rd Thursday of the month St. Vincent de Paul offers utility and rent assistance. They’ll be available this tomorrow, May 21, 2020, to visit with applicants who request assistance from 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM, at 1009 Hearn Street, next to Trinity Catholic Parish.
Those requesting rent/utility assistance must bring documentation with them such as a bill with termination notice, if possible, an eviction notice with a copy of the lease, medical bill, or proof of an upcoming medical appointment if the request is for a gas voucher.
Be advised that their office is not open to the public at this time, but visitors are encouraged to ring the doorbell and return to their vehicle and staff members will come out to assist them.
