Many businesses and organizations have made it a point to recognize our local law enforcement this week for Police Week. Yesterday, the West Texas VA Health Care System Police Service hosted a small ceremony in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day.
During the ceremony, Senior Chaplain Joel Miller of the Howard County Emergency Services Chaplains Corps, along with Howard County Sheriff Stan Parker, and Big Spring Police Chief Chad Williams were recognized for their collaborative efforts with the West Texas VA Health Care System and the work that they do for the community.
"It's a very sombering day. You know, it's, obviously to memorialize those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. We try to make it as inviting and cheerful as possible, but we can't lose sight of the purpose of Peace Officers Memorial Day," said Major Zachary New, acting for Chief Adolph Ramos, of the VA Police Department.
