A new PBS TV series filmed in Big Spring called “In Search of the West Texas Wordsmith” will begin this weekend on May 4th. The show is created, hosted, and co-produced by Tom Parks, writer and educator, of Midland. It is also co-produced by James and Amanda Fite, and Zach Campbell, all of Howard County.
The show will be interviewing 13 local West Texas writers, and is filmed inside of the Hotel Settles.
James Fite, Director and Editor for the series, told KBest News that the first 13 episodes were funded by a grant from the FMH Foundation of Midland, but they’re still looking to secure funds for the last 13 episodes to round out the season and maybe for more seasons to come. His hope is to be able to film in multiple locations around Big Spring, such as the historic Spring and the Municipal Auditorium.
The weekly show “In Search of the West Texas Wordsmith” airs on Basin PBS on Saturdays at 3 PM.
