When There's Smoke on the Mountain or Clouds in the Air, K-Best News Is There!

Yesterday evening, 3 of the 4 Big Spring Mayoral candidates gathered for the Mayoral Debate at Big Spring High School that was moderated by the Big Spring High School Debate team.

During the event, candidates – David Mathis, Anna Scott, and Shannon Thomason - answered questions presented to them during the debate. The Big Spring High School debate team presented topics such as how to bring new businesses to Big Spring, addressing potholes and watermain repair, and budget issues.

There were over 80 people in attendance at last night’s event that was presented by the Howard County Democrats and Young Democrats, as well as the Howard County Republicans and Young Republicans.

Shiloh Salazar, organizer for the event, told KBest News that she was pleased the number of people at the debate and felt like attendees had a great opportunity to learn more about the candidats.

"We had the people come up to ask their own questions, and I think it really hit home for them. I think people who watch the live videos will feel a little more comfortable choosing who they want for mayor," said Salazar.

Facebook live videos of the Tuesday's debate can be found on our KBest Media Facebook page.
