The United Way of Big Spring and Howard County will be having their event The Big Push on Wednesday, December 12th, from 12-4 PM at 215 W. 3rd St. in Big Spring.
Christian Fair, Executive Director with the local United Way organization, told KBest News that the event is the end of the year blitz for the 2019 Campaign Season. There will be local volunteers with the United Way helping to collect donations at the corner of 3rd and Gregg St. during that time. Double L BBQ will also be at the event selling food to help raise money for the local organization.
Most people may be surprised that the campaign season isn’t as long as one might think, instead, the United Way of Big Spring and Howard County only campaigns from September through December to raise a big portion of their funding.
With a turnover in Executive Directors and a Kick-Off event that was canceled twice due to bad weather, the local organization has only met 30 percent of their goal for the 2019 Campaign but Fair says she’s still hopeful that they’ll be able to raise enough funds to distribute to their local agencies.
