DPS has identified Jose Ayala, a 63-year old man from Fort Worth, TX as the person who had passed away as a result of a two-vehicle crash that occurred in Howard County last week.

According to their report, on Thursday, March 8th at approximately 4:45 PM, DPS troopers responded to a 2-vehicle crash that involved a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder, driven by Ayala, and 2009 Freightliner, truck tractor towing a semi-trailer, driven by 29-year old Michael Kerby of Clifton, TX.

The investigation revealed that Ayala was traveling east on I-20 when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed the center median and entered the westbound traffic lanes. He then collided with the Freightliner head on. Ayala was pronounced dead on scene, and Kerby was transported to Scenic Mountain Medical Center with non-incapacitating injuries.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
