SWEETWATER — Serena Dobbs kicked it into high gear as she neared the finish sprinting from 10th to sixth place before crossing the line at the Roscoe Invitational cross country meet held on Monday.

The Coahoma High School freshman recorded her best time this season at 14 minutes, 20 seconds, which is one minute, 29 seconds faster than her last outing at the Western Texas Invitation held in Snyder last week.

Fellow teammate Mason Hudgins also had an impressive day. He sprinted across the finish line at 20 minutes, 55 seconds which is down a full two minutes, 43 seconds from his last race. That was enough to land the CHS sophomore with a medal for ninth place.

In the junior high boys division, Jake Freeman earned another medal. He placed ninth with a time of six minutes, three seconds.

Next: The Coahoma Cross Country team will head to Abilene on Saturday, Sept. 28 for the ACU Invitational.
