8th grade A: Steers 61, Tigers 26

The 8th grade A Steers successfully played in unison in order to secure a win. The Steers took advantage of Snyder turnovers by pushing the ball up the court, early and often, procuring many wide open layups. The Steer press was often tough to break with Chris Salazar playing sideline to sideline.

Again, creating turnovers was the theme of the night. Josh Gonzales pushed the tempo well by relaying the ball up the court to the open man on possession changes. David Rios and Ismeal Castillo were very opportunistic as well, creating turnovers by being active on the backside of our defensive formations. Ricky Escovedo and Derrick Walleck finished on several highly contested layups, finding their offensive rhythm early on. Eli Cobos and Cade Bryans found success from the 3 point line.

8th grade B- Steers 40, Tigers 22

The 8th grade B Steers won their game by creating turnovers and finding open layups in transition. Wesson Cate, Aaron Chavez, Taylor Palmer, Kelby Olivares, amongst others, shined throughout the contest.

Steals were the name of the game and the 8th grade B team has been improving greatly as of late.

The STEERS defeated Snyder at home last night. Defensive efforts led by Baleigh Simpson, Keyshaun Woodruff, Maddox Lane, and Ezekiel Carreon kept the Tigers at bay most of the evening. With the exception of a few turnovers and mental mistakes the STEERS played team basketball with a host of scorers.

Offensively Kenderick Jackson led the STEERS with 12 points, Ezekiel Carreon had 6 points as well as Alex Arispe with 6. Offensive passing, and quick transitions made scoring in the paint the objective for the evening.
