The Coahoma Bulldogettes walked onto the Clyde softball field Friday knowing they were about to play the best team in District 5 3A. The Lady Bulldogs were undefeated in the district and most of their wins were with double digit runs.
At the end of the game, the Coahoma girls left the field with a 9-1 victory and clinched a slice of the 5 3A District Championship.
“We know what Clyde is good at. They are a solid team,” said Bulldogettes Head Coach Alex Orosco. “To give ourselves a chance, we had to put the ball in play. That was the emphasis. Put the ball in play. I think we did it.”
Overall, Orosco said his team played well at all areas of the game and is now turning his attention towards the playoff season.
“We haven't reached our peak,” he said. “If we continue to climb there is no team in the state that can stop us. We have six more times to prove it.”
It was a pitchers battle throughout the game with only one run scored through four innings and that by a Lady Bulldog Then the Bulldogette fifth inning offensive onslaught began with an out of the park homerun by MaKynlee Overton and ended with another out of the park homerun by Cassie Grant. In between, the Bulldogettes scored 9 runs to walk away with the co-championship.
