COAHOMA - Jaydan Mann closed out the Coahoma-Stanton softball game Tuesday night by blasting a triple on a fly ball to right field to bring home two runs in the fifth inning. The Bulldogettes won 10-0.
Mann led Coahoma in hits. She went 3-for-4 at the plate and had three triples, 2 runs, and 5 RBI for the game.
A big 6-run, second inning gave the Bulldogettes an early lead while MaKynlee Overton shutdown the Lady Buffs offense at the mound. Overton allowed no runs from 1 hit, had 2 walks with a whopping 11 strikeouts for the game.
Kenzi Canales got Coahoma’s offense rolling in the second when she singled on a grounder to the shortstop on a 0-2 count. That brought in an RBI for the Bulldogettes catcher and the first run of the game. Soon after Mann belted her first of three triples for the day on a 1-2 count and raked in 3 RBI. She didn’t stay on base long as Overton singled on a pop fly to right field giving time for Mann to cross home plate.
Overall, the Bulldogettes were strong at the plate out hitting the Lady Buffs 13 to 1. Coahoma brought in 1 run in the fourth inning and 3 in the fifth to salt away the game. Rounding out the heavy hitters for the night was Lexi Montelongo. She went 2-for-4 and brought in an RBI in the bottom of the fifth when she singled on a line drive to center field allowing time for Ashley Romero to cross home plate.
The Bulldogettes were light-footed in the game. Caitlyn Corley, Ashley Romero, Mann, and Aubry Green all stole a base each.
Next, the Bulldogettes will face the Lady Bulldogs in Clyde on Friday for the last game of district play. The varsity game begins at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. for the JV.
