Kamri Kemper picked up a grounder from Post’s Audrey Moreno and sent it to second baseman Chloe Starr to tag out a runner advancing from first. Starr quickly threw the ball to first baseman Cassie Grant for the last out of the game. Coahoma won the match 6-5.
Pitcher MaKynlee Overton was credited with the win. She faced 31 batters, threw 116 pitches and got 69 strikes over seven innings. She allowed 6 hits, 5 runs and struck out 8 batters. The Bulldogettes stole seven bases during the match. Kemper and Jaydan Mann stole 2 bases a piece while Starr, Ashley Romero, MaKynlee Overton had 1 stolen base a piece. Raegan Deel had 2 RBIs for the game. Kemper and Starr had 1 RBI a piece.
Coahoma picks up their fourth win of the season in non-district play.
Following the varsity game, the Bulldogette JV team handily defeated the Post Lady Lopes 13-4 over 3 innings.
Bulldogs lose to Post
The Coahoma varsity baseball team lost to the Post Antelopes 14-4 on Tuesday in Post.
The Bulldogs scored early in the first inning after Bracy Bacon grounded out to the first baseman which allowed Zach Holmes to reach home plate. Heading into the top of the third with Post in the lead 2-1, Coahoma had a big inning knocking in 3 runs. Logan Franklin started off the Bulldog offense by belting a line drive to center field bringing home Jaedan Stanislaus from second base. Jonathon Schneider singled on a line drive to right field sending Franklin across home plate as the Bulldogs took the lead 3-2. Then Landon Grant single on a hard ground ball to right field which allowed Braden Pearson to score.
Holmes went 2 for 4 at the plate, Gaige Hill went 2 for 3, and J. Schneider went 2 for 2. Bacon, J. Schneider, Franklin, and Grant all racked up 1 RBI a piece for the game.
