Coahoma - The Coahoma Cross Country team closed out the season last week on a positive note with sophomore Austyn Montgomery qualifying for regional contest and the junior high school 8th grade boys earning third place overall at district contest.
“I am really proud of the kids,” said Head Coach Byron Seal.“They worked hard all season.”
UIL district contest was held on Tuesday, Oct. 7, in Colorado City. Montgomery place 7th in the meet qualifying for regionals set for Monday, Oct. 23, in Lubbock. Also of note, 8th grader Kaylie Kaczyk came in 5th in the girls event. For the boys junior high team, eighth graders Bryson Kerby placed 4th and Grayson Jacobs came in 8th. Junior Varsity team member Jorge Bachiller was 11th in his event.

On Saturday, Oct 7, the team competed at the Big Spring Invitational held in Comanche Trail Park.
Montgomery placed eighth in the high school girls event and the junior high team of Colon-Rivera, Jacobs, Atkins, and Fitzhugh placed first. Individually, Colon-Rivera placed 3rd, Jacobs placed 5th, and Atkins placed 10th.
