This week, Big Spring ISD has been serving meals for their students while schools are closed. These meals could be picked up at Marcy, Moss, and Big Spring Junior High from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Now, BSISD is reaching out to students that may not be able to make it to these locations.
George Bancroft, Assistant Superintendent for Big Spring ISD, told KBest News that they figured that would be kids who wouldn't be able to make it to these locations to pick up meals and they decided to utilize their bus drivers during this time to help.
"Our bus drivers have nothing to do because we're not running bus routes, so now they have something to do now," said Bancroft. "They're gonna take ten buses to ten locations around town and they'll stop there at about 9 [AM]. Anyone under the age of 18 who needs meals can come to those buses and get meals."
According to Bancroft, the buses will stay at those locations for approximately an hour, and then move to a second location and stay there for approximately an hour. A map showing the all locations for BSISD food distribution can be found on the Big Spring ISD Facebook page.
