Earlier this morning, Big Spring Independent School District issued a message to parents and guardians of all students in their district advising of a bomb threat that they were made aware of at approximately 8 AM this morning. They noted that the threat had been made against a "gym" via an email to a school employee.  All students and staff were immediately evacuated from areas in close proximity to all gymnasiums across the district, and law enforcement was notified.

The Big Spring Police Department inspected all Big Spring ISD gymnasiums and they cleared all for occupancy.

BSISD advised that the school district will consider any threat of this nature seriously and will always err on the side of caution to keep their students and staff safe and free from harm.

UPDATE: The Big Spring Police Department has inspected all Big Spring ISD gymnasiums and they have been cleared for occupancy. We are thankful to the police department for their timely assistance and to our parents for their patience.

This message is for parents and guardians of all students on in the Big Spring ISD. Earlier today, at approximately 8:00 AM, District administration became aware of a bomb threat was made against “the gym” via an email to a school employee . All students and staff were immediately evacuated from areas in close proximity to all gymnasiums across the district, and law enforcement was notified. At this time, local law enforcement professionals and school administrators are evaluating the credibility of the threat and the safety of the building. If or when law enforcement officials determine it is safe to occupy the building, students and staff will return but not sooner. In the meantime, if you choose to get your student prior to our typical release time, please be prepared for a longer pick-up process than normal as we work together to account for all students. The school district will consider any threat of this nature seriously and will always err on the side of caution to keep your students and our staff safe and free from harm.
