The Kindness Revolution is a national non-profit initiative with the mission to raise the awareness of kindness in our communities and schools. It's a concept that Adrian Calvio, local State Farm Insurance Agent in Big Spring, has decided to help spread to Big Spring by becoming a local ambassador for the Kindness Revolution.
"It's a super simple concept, man. That's what's great about it!," said Calvio. "Literally, the mission is to spread kindness instead of negativity in real life, [with] face-to-face people but also in the social media realm."
Calvio stated that they’ve purchased 3 different bracelets for kids, adults, and veterans / military / first responders. He told KBest News that he’s going to partner with Howard County schools, along with other schools outside of the county, to help encourage kindness. He noted that there would be a local ambassador at the school who will offer a bracelet to whomever they deem to have done the kind act for the day.
"The idea is to pay it forward. You don't really want to keep the bracelet. The idea is to change the paradigm of thinking, so to start looking for good in people," said Calvio. "Look for the good stuff instead of focusing on trying to call people out for everything bad. We're gonna start helping people look for the good in everyone. By having the bracelet on, we're hoping it starts their focus on looking for good, theny they hand it off."
Calvio went on to say that he hopes adults will take part in the Kindness Revolution more than the kids because, eventually, kids will model what they see the adults around them do.
