On Friday morning, August 2nd, the Howard County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a dog attack that occurred on the Happy Day Humane Society property. The investigation revealed that contractors had been working on the property when a dog had found its way out of the kennel and attempted to attack one of the contractors. The workers felt that the dog was an immediate threat to their safety and shot the dog out of self-defense. The workers immediately reported the incident to their employer. The Howard County Sheriff’s Office was later notified of the incident.

Sheriff Stan Parker tells KBest Media that these types of events are unfortunate, but that the workers were within their right to defend themselves from immediate danger. At this time, authorities are still looking into the incident.
