Gloria McDonald and Shonda Folsom will face off in the June 8th runoff election for Big Spring City Council District 4. During the recent election held Saturday, McDonald received 41.79 percent of the votes and Folsom received 22.14 percent.
When asked how she felt about the runoff election, Folsom said that she is very excited about it.
"I'm excited that we had multiple candidates. I'm excited that we had a lot of voter turnout, and I think that both Gloria McDonald and I care a lot about what happens to this city and this district," said Folsom.
When asked the same question, McDonald stated that she was not surprised by the runoff election.
"I figured coming in, because with five people running in one district it's very difficult for one to get 51 percent. You know when you come in you're gonna have a runoff, so I was prepared for it," said McDonald.
It should be noted that votes do not carry over to the Runoff Election, and voters must cast a ballot again in the runoff. The deadline to register to vote in the runoff is tomorrow, May 9th. Early voting begins Tuesday May 28th and runs through June 4th.
