Multiple sclerosis, also known as MS, is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, it involves an immune-mediated process in which an abnormal response of the body’s immune system is directed against the central nervous system. The CNS is made up of the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves.
Manny Negron, Tourism Coordinator for the City of Big Spring, is doing his part to raise awareness for MS, Multiple Sclerosis, by participating in Walk MS: San Angelo 2019 that will be on April 27th. Negron has done his part to help fundraise for other causes in the past, but this time he's chosen to champion for MS to honor his friend and supervisor Hayley Herrera, Community Services Director for the City of Big Spring, who is diagnosed with MS.
Negron told KBest News that he’s adopted a goal of raising $500 for the MS Walk, but, so far, he’s only at $200. He's currently looking for individuals or businesses to sponsor him for his upcoming MS Walk in San Angelo.
For anyone who’s interested in taking part in the walk on April 27th in San Angelo, just search for MS Walk San Angelo and from there you’ll find the link to register for the race or to donate. To donate directly to Negron's MS fundraiser, contact him at the Big Spring CVB at 432-263-8235.
