Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, was Howard County day at the State Capitol. Community Leaders and citizens from Big Spring, Forsan and Coahoma attended the event, as well as the members of the Greater Big Spring Chamber of Commerce’s “Leadership Big Spring”. The Big Spring High School Meister Singers also attended, along with students from Coahoma and Forsan.
Resolutions were presented in the Texas House of Representatives by Drew Darby and by State Senator Kel Seliger declaring Wednesday, February 27, 2019 as “Howard County Day”.
The trip was certainly a great way for the students in attendance to see our state government in action.
Tana Bradley of Bulldog Steel and Metal Solutions claimed, “[Wednesday] was a great experience visiting our historic capitol building and witnessing the day to day operations of what makes Texas so great. Seeing Texas politicians first hand at work is a true eye opener as to how much takes place on a day to day basis for our state’s elected officials.”
Both Darby and Seliger joined the contingent in the Capitol’s Rotunda to listen to the Meister Singers as they sang The National Anthem and other patriotic favorites. Both then took time to visit with the group. They addressed current issues and answered questions.
