The holiday season brings many visitors to Big Spring, especially during the Comanche Trail Festival of Lights that runs nightly through most of December. This it was reported that there were 30,186 people who visited the lighted trail. According to Vicky Stewart, Secretary and designer with the Comanche Trail Festival of Lights, the 30,000th visitor was Nora Porras from Big Spring, who visited the attraction during the last hour on Christmas Night. According to Stewart, this year Santa visited with over 1,112 kids during the 2 weekends that he was at the Festival of Lights.
Stewart noted that the Festival of Lights begins the Sunday after first Saturday in December when the Big Spring Herald has their lighted Christmas parade. This year the event was open for 24 nights, thus helping them to reach over 30,000 visitors this year.
