The Howard County Resource Center celebrated their recent name change with a Ribbon Cutting this afternoon. They were joined by the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce and community members.
Formerly called the Northside Community Action League, the organization’s Board of Directors made a decision to change the name after 35 years. Diana Martinez, Executive Director of the Howard County Resource Center, noted that the old name no longer served the mission of the organization because they wanted to stress that they serve all of Howard County and not just the north side.
The name change became official on October 8, 2018.
Martinez also advised that they still offer all of the same services such as assistance with utility bills, textbooks for school, uniforms for work, food pantry, legal aid, and weekly psychiatrist visits.
