Earlier this week it was announced that the Salvation Army is in need of bell ringers for the Christmas season.
Captain Josh McKain with the The Salvation Army of Big Spring, says that the funds raised during the Holiday Red Kettle program are used all year long for our local food bank, rent utility assistance, and for the Boys & Girls Club. McKain says that if they aren't able to get volunteers, they have to pay someone to ring the bell.
Tabitha Clark of Star Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Big Spring tells KBest News that their hope is that all volunteer shifts will be filled, and even issues this challenge:
"Every year every employee at Star rings the bell for the Salvation Army. So, we, here at Star, double-dog dare every business, club, group, or organization in Big Spring to the RED KETTLE CHALLENGE!," said Clark. "The business that brings in the most money gets bragging rights for a year!"
The challenge has been issued!
Clark says that a Golden Kettle will be awarded to the business or organization who raises the most money for the Salvation Army, and that the Kettle trophy will remain with the winners for a full year.
Volunteer bell ringers are needed from November 23rd - December 25th outside Walmart. To get signed up, please contact Josh McKain at 432-267-8239 or online at SalvationArmyBigSpring.org.
